Marco Vieira, EFC

Marco Vieira

Marco Vieira works as an instructional assistant at a medical high school in Antioch. After working in school administration for five years, he felt that he was too far removed from face-to-face student instruction. He left his position as an associate director of a non-public school to pursue his ambition in direct student instruction.

In my personal life, I like to collect comic books, play video games, and play with my three dogs. Other than working with students, I would love nothing better than to watch live music. I practice mindfulness meditation and spend my spare time enjoying the outdoors with my daughter and wife.

About

Marco

What was your path to becoming a provider?

I walked into a special education classroom 13 years ago and loved every second of my job. I knew then that I wanted to work in education, I just did not know what. Having ADHD myself, I found the benefits of executive function coaching in my late 20’s. It changed my life and set me on the path to becoming an executive function coach myself.

What would you say to someone who is very anxious about learning problems in school?

Everyone struggles with something in their life. There is no shame in seeking help, because everyone needs to ask for help at some point. It can be easy to feel like you are the only one with struggles, but with help you will be able to shine in the areas you thought were once struggles.

Why are you passionate about helping students with learning differences?

Having been one of the kids who needed extra help in school, I know what a difference a kind, encouraging voice can make. I aim to be that person in the lives of as many people as I can. It is why I get up in the morning and do it every day, because I know the extra effort can make a world of difference in the life of one of my students.
