Stephanie Casey, LMFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has challenges like everyone else. My life has its ups and downs. What I offer is personal and professional experiences that help others create change in a safe way. I believe that awareness is the key to making better choices. If you do not want to change, then be aware of why. Therapy is not about fixing. It’s about understanding.

I am a mother of three adult children Two of my children are in the Autism Spectrum. Their father was diagnosed with HFA 17 years into our marriage so I have both personal and clinical experience with the interpersonal challenges of HFA. It’s very difficult to navigate but once you learn about how that brain works, it is much easier to connect with that person.

What was your path to becoming a provider?

Human behavior is fascinating. There always seems to be a connection that needs to be linked in order to feel at peace. I am good at connecting those pieces. It’s rewarding to see others feel whole.

What would you say to someone who is very anxious about learning challenges in school?

Everyone has his/her/their own way of learning. It’s our job to help figure out how you learn. It’s not that you can’t learn. It’s that you learn in a more exciting way!!

Why are you passionate about helping students with learning differences?

Passion is contagious. It’s energy brings things to life. Finding someone’s passion changes the course of life. If I can show these students that it’s not about how you learn it’s that you CAN learn. Once the stigma of non traditional learning is removed, that student soars! What a true blessing to watch!
