Student Growth You Can See: Parallel Learning's 2024–2025 Outcomes
Proof that when virtual special education is done right, students thrive.
Results with Heart
Student outcomes aren’t just numbers. They’re proof that virtual special education, when built with care and clinical excellence, truly works.
Parallel’s 2024–2025 student outcomes show measurable growth, meaningful student connections, and equitable access for schools serving our most vulnerable communities.
For years, virtual special education was often seen as “less effective.” Less personal. A stopgap solution rather than a sustainable one.
But the data and the stories behind it tell a different story.
"Our students receiving virtual services are progressing faster than our on-the-ground students — they are so motivated to attend speech therapy."
— Special Education Director, Michigan
Parallel’s model, part compliance solution, part connection engine, demonstrates that when clinical rigor and real-time support meet accessibility, student success follows.
- 77,000+ sessions delivered across 18 states
- 80% of districts served were in high or very high social-vulnerability communities
- 98% of students met or exceeded IEP goal expectations
- 8.9/10 average student satisfaction
The results speak for themselves, but the story behind them speaks even louder.
Where Access Meets Impact
Every student deserves the chance to reach their potential, but access isn’t always distributed equally. Across the communities Parallel served in the 2024–2025 school year, 80% were categorized as “High” or “Very High” on the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), a national measure of factors like poverty, housing stability, transportation, and community demographics.
High SVI scores often signal real barriers to educational equity: families juggling multiple jobs, limited access to specialists, and long travel distances for essential services. For many districts, those challenges have made it harder to meet even the most basic special education mandates.
That’s where Parallel’s model makes a measurable difference. By combining licensed providers, virtual service delivery, and clinical oversight, Parallel isn’t just filling vacancies; it’s closing access gaps. Students in high-need communities are receiving the evaluations, therapy, and instruction they’re legally owed, without interruption.
“The tools we use to empower students continue to progress,” said Summer Allison, Vice President of Partnerships at Parallel. “Just like digital research tools, virtual services are about access. Staffing challenges no longer have to be a barrier to student access. New resources — same mission.”
In districts where access can make or break opportunity, Parallel helped ensure that no student went unserved.
“The reason why we show up hasn’t changed. We’re still here to create the same kind of connection and support for students today, just with better tools.”
Student Experience and Engagement
Parallel’s success starts with how students feel about their learning and growth.
After every session, students complete a brief Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM) check-in, rating their progress, satisfaction, and relationship with their provider on a scale from 0–10.
Across all service lines in 2024–2025, students reported an average ROM score of 9.28, a clear signal that virtual services can be both effective and deeply personal.
As one provider put it:
“I thought I wasn’t connecting with a student—he was quiet and distant. Then I saw his ROM results: smiles every week. It reminded me that connection doesn’t always look the same—sometimes it’s simply showing up when a student needs it most.”
Progress Toward IEP Goals
Numbers matter when they reflect growth that changes lives.
At the close of the 2024–2025 school year, 98% of students served through Parallel were on or above target expectations for IEP goals, demonstrating both fidelity and impact.
Behind these numbers are students who are speaking with confidence, managing emotions more effectively, and gaining independence in their learning, because consistent, high-quality support works.
A System Built for Excellence
Parallel’s Pathway platform and Clinical Management Team power these outcomes.
Pathway enables secure, synchronous sessions while collecting data on IEP progress, session quality, and provider engagement. That information helps districts stay compliant and responsive, without adding paperwork.
"The platform has made scheduling and report writing so much easier. I no longer have to manually pull data from assessment reports — the tables are already set up, which saves me a ton of time and editing."
— Cristina V., Parallel Bilingual School Psychologist
Meanwhile, the Clinical Management Team provides real-time coaching and oversight, ensuring every provider has the guidance and resources needed to deliver exceptional care.
The result: students who grow, providers who are supported and confident, and districts that stay ahead of compliance curves.
Looking Ahead
The 2024–2025 outcomes make one thing clear: access and excellence aren’t opposites; they’re partners.
As technology continues to evolve, Parallel’s mission remains the same: helping every district serve every student, without compromise.
Because when connection and compliance work in tandem, student growth becomes visible and measurable.
“When access expands,” said Summer Allison, “students thrive. That’s the work that drives us forward every day.”
